Happy Eastah! Happy Eastah!

This is a lengthy one Lindsay, so if you don't have your energy back from puking all weekend, you might want to skip it today!
A few years ago, Sydney was given a little talking rabbit that had some indistinguishable accent, or a speech impediment, and since then we can't say Happy Easter without talking like him!

So, we are home from another whirlwind adventure back home. I'm happy to report that these trips are getting easier every time we go. Less baby gear to bring, less crying, and sometimes it even takes less time to get there. Add that to the nicer weather and the car trips are almost fun. If it wasn't for the absolutely AWFUL condition of the roads, and the gas prices ($1.19 in Temiskaming shores yesterday!!) we might go up there more often!

I have to say this was the weirdest feeling Easters that I can remember. It was COLD and there was A LOT of snow. We snowshoed, ice fished, went sliding and Keith even took a couple jumps off my parent's roof in to a snowbank!! I'm glad the next time Easter will fall this early will be in 200 and some years! By then it will probably be summer all the time, so it won't be an issue.

I know...not funny.

Here are my pics:
This is our old fat cat Cleo. If you ask Cameron what Gramma's Kitty says he hisses! She's pretty selective about who she likes...this includes Mom, Dad, Lindsay and Me. Even though Keith has been around as long as she has, she HATES him.Cameron had been asking to go "pishing" with Papa at the Cottage and to go on the "kidoo", so despite the cold, he got his wish...
and even caught an "ice pish"!!
Meanwhile, we went sliding off the snowbanks in the yard. (those are Lindsay's eyes in there)

This is where Keith did his jumping. Don't worry Gramma Shirley, he kept his arms up. Easter Morning!!Then for the afternoon, we headed to New Liskeard to visit Memere and Pepere. We were pleasantly surprised to see a lot more Uncles, Aunts and cousins that we expected. It's been a long time since that many of us were able to get there together! It get's noisy and crowded, which is usually the kind of situation that I don't like, but here everything is so predictable that it gives me the warm fuzzies. The groans and cheers coming from the Euchre game at the kitchen table, the call for another team to take on the winners, the little ones running around screaming in the basement and then the sound of their parents dashing to the top of the steep stairs everytime one is heard stomping their way up crying. The clinks of the bottles of beers, the fights over the end crusts of Memere's bread and the phone calls from those that couldn't make it. The "Frenglish" and the eventual foul jokes and gross conversations that can only be understood if you speak this particular dialect of French. (Keith, Dad and Aunt Penny still haven't a clue what people are talking about most of the time!). There are way too many of us to eat at the table, so we serve buffet style and find whatever corner we can sit and eat. It's a little weird to be the one that is invited to the table first to make plates for my kids, and then not get back to the table for quite some time!! It wasn't that long ago that I was the kid that got my plate made for me!! The spread is always the same and it is always absolutely perfect.

This is Aunt Penny teaching the new crop how to play Tock.

And Pepere concentrating on his hand. I believe he and Aunt Lucille were undefeated yesterday.

We had a fairly lengthy discussion about this cartoon that is out on the internet that really hits home with this family. This is EXACTLY what my family sounds like! LOL If you understand this, you understand my family and why I love them.
