Treasures Of All Kinds

I went back out again tonight with my Photography Buddy/Driver to take advantage of the setting sun over an old field. I LOVE my camera!

We also discovered a treasure of a different kind today. We took up the growing sport of GeoCashing...a world wide treasure hunt using a GPS. People hide boxes all over the place and post the coordinates on the website. You chose the one you want to look for, load it on to your GPS and off you go. Most of the time there are simple trinkets in the boxes, but you never know what you are going to find! If you plan to take something from the box, you should bring something of equal or greater value to replace it. There is a log book in the box to sign and leave a note and then when you get back home you leave the "Installer" a note telling them when you found it, what condition it was in, and what you took and left. So, we found two "easy" boxes close to where we live, packed up the kids and set out on our "treasure hunt". We found the first one easily.

Imagine Sydney's delight when she found a Polly Pocket Doll in her first box! I think she's hooked!
She also found a notebook that she wanted so we left behind a couple of gift cards for ice cream cones at DQ , signed the book, rehid it and headed off to find the second one. It was a bit harder but we found it too. She found a pretty cat pen, Cameron grabbed a toy truck and Keith and I took a peso...we left two more ice cream cones and a butterfly ornament that Sydney and I made last summer.

We have a friend that has already done 50+ of these hunts and we saw one person that had done 142! What a great way to get out and see the country! More to come on this for sure...

Wow what a cool idea. You guys are the coolest parents. I may mention that to Matty and see what he thinks. I am sure he will be in for sure.

Fantastic barn pics by the way. You would love all the old barns that are half falling down with rays of sunlight all over this area. And fields of rolled up hay as far as the eye can see. Hey maybe I should get my butt outside.
