What do Birthdays, Deathly Hallows, Wasps and Flowers Have In Common?

Answer: Four completely unrelated things I've enjoyed experiencing this past week.

Keith's Mom, Shirley, was here visiting last week, which coincided with her Birthday. As expected, we baked and decorated a nice butterfly cake for her to celebrate the special occasion. Sydney licked the candles clean and even went as far as to put them back in the cake for a second chance!

I finally got the newest Harry Potter book and devoured that as quickly as I could. I stayed up way too late a few nights and probably neglected the kids, the house and my husband a bit too much, but once he finished his shifts for the week, I was able to flake out in the backyard and finish up the last few chapters. It was so good I didn't even notice him taking my picture! I'm sad that the series is over but I'm hoping Ms Rowling feels she hasn't made quite enough money yet and will undertake a new character!

My neighbour pointed out this giant wasp nest being built way up in one of our birch trees. We've been checking on it daily and I'm just amazed at how quickly it grows but I'm wondering exactly how big this condo is going to be when it's done. Unfortunately, I don't think these are the best neighbours to have around with small children. We may have to evict them.

Oh, and I thought there was some Old Wives' Tale predicting the height of a nest will determinging the snow we will get over the coming winter? If that's true, I'm scared!

And finally, my friend's husband took me out for a photo shoot today. He needs a camera and I need a driver, so we are a perfect match!! We drove around some of the old farm roads but didn't come accross any good old buildings to photograph. We did find a pretty field though and we shot a few before my battery died!.Argh! Note to self: charge battery more often!
