Happy Mother's Day

The tulips in my front garden seem especially beautiful this year. I ended up with a lot more than last spring and they are more vibrant. What a treat for a girl and her camera!

After all our company left yesterday, I spent the afternoon sifting my compost! I had yet another one of those "who would have thunk it" moments when I realized how happy I was working out there getting dirty and being excited about how nice the compost turned out!! Certainly not something you predict about yourself when you're a teenager. I've turned in to such a nerd!! :)

The kids and I had fun turning over the boards in the garden to see what little critters were hiding under neath. I think we need to get a bug book so we can figure out what we have. I think we actually found a tick...which scares me because I didn't think we had those in Northern Ontario. I also discoverd that a pine squirrel is nesting in my upside down tomato planter. I watched her go in the top with a bundle of fluff. She can have it for another month or so, but then I'm going to need it. I'm glad I spotted her, so we don't end up with another unfortunate incident like what happened at the cottage last May!

I was treated to a surf and turf Mother's Day meal on Saturday night. And since we always like to have fun in the kitchen, we decided we would play with our food before we ate it!

Which of course attracted some of the neighbourhood brats.
Yes, once again, she woke up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare about the lobsters chasing her.
I'm looking forward to a much quieter week. Last week was a little much. Papa has offered to take Cameron up North with him when he get's back from Cuba and then Gramma will bring him back when she comes here for the Anne Murray concert next Monday. 3 days at home by myself?? I might actually get caught up with my gardening!!
