Why we need a second vehicle...
Yesterday:
5:50 pm - Sydney and I are eating supper waiting for Keith to get home so I can take her to dance.
6:00 - we are flying out the door, ballet slippers and eco-grocery bags in hand.
6:15 - make it to studio, walk like penguins accross the skating rink of a parking lot, go in, stumble our way through a sea of boots in the entrance, take ours off, put them on the empty shelves, then get our socks wet walking back out and navigate through packs of hyperactive ballerinas, toe shoes, tiny pink 3 year olds, find the one remaining coat hook and somehow manage to get her in to class before the door closes.
6:20 - I shove my way back through, stumble back through the entrance, put my wet socks back in to my boots and head back accross the ice to my van.
6:30-7:00 - throw as much as I can in to my shopping cart at the cheap grocery store and head back to the studio.
7:15 - back at studio, back accross the ice, to find Sydney waiting for me in the hall. Of course, TODAY is the day class let's out early. I'm not taking my boots off again and the crowds have lessened so I'm able to shout out directions to Sydney as to where to find her coat. Hyperactive Dad and his two daughters distract Sydney, and the daughter of one REALLY grumpy Mom as we all try to get everyone back out the door, back accross the ice and in to our vans.
7:25 - we hit Shopper's Drug Mart for the really cheap milk, and our favourite eco friendly cleaning products.
7:45 - head over to the good grocery store for all the good groceries. Get charged three times for one tub of yogourt, but of course I won't find that out for another couple hours.
8:30 - driving home with a tired little girl an hour past bed time with a trunk full of food. The temperature has dropped and we are cold.
8:40 - I turn the corner off the highway and hear a loud thump. Rattling sound continues and I am filled with a sudden sense of dread. Get out to look and back passenger tire is FLAT. Call Keith, call friend to come get us. Move all the groceries and the kid in to his van, he drives us home, get's Keith and Keith goes back.
Some time in that next hour, Keith realizes that the ice really doesn't help a jack stay still, so he has to call road side assistance. They come, jack the van, put the donut on, and Keith comes home.
So this morning Keith had to get up extra early, drive in to the city to meet his Dad, they trade cars, Keith goes out to the boonies for his training. FIL takes morning off, goes to get the damage assessed (OUCH!!!!!!!!), and we settle for a new tire and straightened out rim til we have time on the weekend to get it fixed properly. Keith has to drive back in to the city tonight, trade cars again, pick up our order from the farm and then come back home.
I went this morning to take pictures of the 8" deep, crater that ate my car. Report it to city to find out it had been called in the day before. Nice. Apparently city reviews claims on pothole damage to vehicles, so with any luck we will have this covered.
OK....so some fun stuff now. Here are some pictures from Dad and Lindsay's Birthday's this past weekend.

Yes, I know the logo on the cake is backwards. There's no going back when you do it wrong.

Oh, and this is one of the reasons why we keep him....
