How can an another year have passed already? Didn't she just turn 5 like yesterday?
We decided to skip the big party this year. She was given the choice to invite a friend or two, but since she just couldn't narrow it down, she decided that just her family was fine. She decided on brussel sprouts, chicken and coconut rice for her meal...wish granted! What kind of kid picks brussel sprouts for her Birthday and not pizza?! She really is growing up!
However, she was definitely still little girl enough to be thrilled about having a Barbie doll cake!

And a Barbie doll horse!
But this puts us back again to the idea that she really is a big girl....
Ya...we did it. We gave her her very own hand held video game system. Now of course since you know me, you know that this is a highly educational Leap Frog made video game which is helping her write her letters more neatly and teaching her math, spelling and all kinds of other good stuff...but that doesn't change the fact that her ears already tune out the outside world when it's in her hands. In light of the search effort that is now underway here in Ontario, for a 15 year old boy who dissapeared after running away from home because his Dad took his X-box away, as punishment for skipping school, this cute little Disney Princess game playing thing doesn't seem quite so harmless. Can she just go back to being like 3 or something?

HB Sydney!
Love the cake - it turned out beautifully! And, here I thought Josh's crab legs were an odd thing for a kid to want as a birthday meal . . . Sydney has him beat!
