Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Warning - turn your speakers down if little ears are listening or if you are in a public place...there's some foul language! It's St. Patty's day so I had to include some Irish music and since The Pogues are Keith's favourite band, I had to go with them for our Theme Song today. It's a Christmas song, but it's funny...and one of the very few I can stand! Isn't his voice beautiful?

Green is definitely the theme around here, but more for the sickies than to celebrate all things Irish. First Cameron and then Sydney, came down with one violent stomach virus after our trip to Science North (yes, they washed their hands after petting the snake, but you know how kids are!). I think I said last time this happened, that I cleaned up more puke than anyone should have to in their lifetimes, so I think I should be declared a Saint now. St Shannon, Patron Saint of Puking Children. Imagine 6 hours with a 2 year old who will puke on anything (including me, my cupped hands, the carpets, the couch, the mats, the sink, his bed, the floors, etc) but not in the bucket and then two days later, 10 hours (which stated just before 5pm so you do the night time math!) with a 5 year old who is being turned inside out every 20 minutes. She got the bucket every time, thank goodness, but it is unbelievably painful to watch a child go through that. I've never witnessed someone get that sick.

However, they seem to be on the mend now. They aren't doing much, and sleeping a lot, which is nice since I caught some mild version of the bug as well, and I still haven't caught up on all the laundry this created. Sydney stayed home from school today which is making a short month even shorter, but she still doesn't look right. Everyone knows what her sick eyes look like, and she is definitely still wearing those.

Between the end of Cameron's bout and the beginning of hers, we did manage to take them to see the new Movie Horton Hears a Who!, which ended being a bit of a disappointment, but it was still fun to go out. Sydney and I also planted some wheat grass for an Easter center piece (which she barely had enough energy for judging from the 2 hour nap she had right after)
and I picked up the smocked dress Mary Ruth got me started on a couple years ago and began relearning the techniques. I also completed another photography assignment on low key photography. I don't think I got the lighting quite as "low-key" as it was supposed to be, but how dramatic can a pile of eggs look anyways?? Tonight we are going to a hockey game to practice our sports photography so I doubt the results of this class will end up on the wall of my kitchen!

So anyways, Happy St. Patrick's Day. I don't think much celebrating will be going on around here today. I was going to make a Blarney Stone cake today, but Keith made a cherry pie last night and I'm pretty sure we don't need both goodies in our house this week! Maybe I'll make green jello for the kids instead!
